Rhys Skinner, Barry Town club photographer and programme editor said: “Kayne’s a talismanic figure at the club and when he’s firing, Barry are firing.

“He’s a quick, versatile forward who is very simply a goal-getter, having scored over 10 goals a season every year since joining the club. He also scored our first goal in Europe since 2002 last summer against NSI Runavik and has been an integral part of how we’ve played over the last five seasons.”

Steve Davies, a Barry Town fan from Cadoxton said: “He’s one of our own. He will do anything for the fans and always seems to put us first – whether it be doing podcasts or signing things for youngsters.”

McLaggon scored twice to help his team come back from two goals down against Bala Town in a thrilling 3-3 draw in October.

He also scored In Barry’s away win against Caernarfon Town and in their home draw against Aberystwyth Town last weekend.

Barry fan Rhys Deans from Palmerston also praised McLaggon and said: “He’s a great example to the youngsters. They all admire him as a local boy who loves the club. Plus, he scores goals, which always helps.”

McLaggon has made 132 appearances and has scored 67 goals for Barry since joining from Merthyr Town in 2017.

He started his career at Southampton, rising through the youth ranks and turning professional in 2007 before making eight appearances for the first team scoring one goal.

Since then, McLaggon has featured for Eastbourne Borough, Salisbury City, Bristol Rovers, Weston Super Mare and Merthyr Town.

The striker has also been capped internationally for Wales up to under-19 level.

Anthony Heath of West End, praised McLaggon’s ability on the field as well as his personality off it: “He’s always been a level-headed leader on the pitch put is a bit of a comedian off it. The players, management and supporters took an instant liking to him and he continues to be a firm fans’ favourite.”
