Where will you celebrate this winter?
LLANISHEN residents are welcoming the return of in-person Christmas festivities after many of last year’s events were cancelled or moved online.
Here is the run down to the big day and beyond:
- December 2 – Start the Christmas season with a wreath making workshop in the Ty Mawr Pub. The event runs from 7 to 9.30 and tickets are £18 each.
- December 4 – Kip Mcgrath’s professional tuition is hosting a Christmas party for all ages while raising money for Ty Hafan. Expect Christmas games, food, children’s goody bags, fancy dress and singing.
- December 4 – Llanishen Evangelical Church has organised a free breakfast at 9.30am followed by a free food market starting at 10am. The breakfast is being hosted and funded by the Church, and the food for the market is collected from local supermarkets to prevent food waste as part of their work with the charity FareShare. A range of Christmas gifts is also on offer.
- December 5 – The Ffynnon Wen Pub are hosting an interactive animal show. Tickets are £10 per child and there are plenty of animals to get up close and personal with.
- December 8 – It’s choir and quiz night at the Ffynnon Wen and residents are being challenged to take on the local quizmaster Simon Jones. The quiz starts at 7.30pm.
- December 11 – For £8, your child can enjoy a breakfast with Santa at the Ffynnon Wen Pub. A ticket includes a child’s breakfast, juice, a gift from Santa and the chance to get creative at the craft table.
- December 11 – At 7.30pm, the Ffynnon Wen Beers and Carols singalong gets going. The pub requests “grabbing a beer and raising the roof”.
- December 12 – The Church Inn is hosting a Christmas quiz starting at 8pm.
- Over at the Ffynnon Wen a charity Christmas fair is being held to raise money for Dreams and Wishes. There will be over 15 stalls and it runs from 9am till midday.
- December 17 – Drag artist Kara Von Site is entertaining guests with a comedy evening at the Ffynnon Wen. Tickets are £10 and it starts at 8pm.
- December 19 – The Church Inn is hosting a Christmas karaoke blending pop with carols from 8pm.
- December 19 is also the last day to donate to the Church Inn’s Christmas toy collection. All toys are being donated to under-privileged children.
- December 27 – Llanishen RFC are hosting a ‘darts and skittles Christmas tournament’ starting at 8pm. Entries cost £5 and 1st place pockets £150 prize money.
- December 31 – Don your best dinner jackets for a James Bond themed evening at the Ffynnon Wen. See in the new year in style.
- Llanishen RFC are also hosting a new year’s party starting at 6pm. The theme is 80’s/90’s. A DJ and karaoke set will be present.
- January 2 – The Ffynnon Wen is hosting a children’s disco with a DJ. Kids can dress as their favourite hero.
