Cardiff hope Peterborough win will spur them on against Millwall

The Bluebirds could climb up the table if they win this weekend

CARDIFF City will look to build on an impressive performance midweek when they take on Millwall this weekend.

Steve Morison’s side dominated Peterborough on Wednesday with a 4-0 win courtesy of goals from Joe Ralls, Aden Flint and new loan signings Jordan Hugill and Uche Ikpeazu.

On-loan midfielder Tommy Doyle said ahead of the game: “Hopefully we can start climbing the table and show that we’re a better side than we’ve shown so far this season.”

The win has given the Bluebirds a good foundation as they face 15th-placed Millwall at The Den tomorrow (Saturday).

A win for Cardiff will take them within three points of The Lions who have won only one of their last six games.

Manager Steve Morison is no stranger to The Den, having spent six years there as a player, scoring 92 goals and winning two play-off finals in that time.

Team News:

This will be City’s second game without captain Sean Morrison who will be out for the remainder of the season.

He suffered a knee injury which will see him sidelined for up to nine months.

However, a back three of Perry Ng, Aden Flint and Mark McGuinness kept a clean sheet last game, and it’s likely this will be the back three Morison sticks with this weekend.

There could be a start for on-loan striker Uche Ikpeazu, who has two goals in as many games. He could replace Isaak Davies who’s been paired up top with Jordan Hugill recently.

Millwall will be without joint top scorer Tom Bradshaw, who has suffered ligament damage and is out injured for 12 weeks.

The Welshman has scored seven goals this season, joint with Benik Afobe, who will look to add to his tally this weekend.

Jed Wallace is another threat for Gary Rowett’s men. He’s scored five goals this season and is a threat from set pieces.
