Meet the woman who turns sea glass into gems

Katie Morgan makes jewellery using glass collected from beaches in the Vale of Glamorgan

RADYR resident Katie Morgan has founded a business called Searose Jewellery from her home.

Mrs Morgan, 28, uses sea glass for her creations which is collected from beaches around the Vale of Glamorgan, mainly Saint Mary’s Well Bay near Penarth.

Sea glass appears on many beaches around the world and is a naturally weathered piece of glass that could come from a bottle which gets washed into the sea.

This results in a small and colourful piece of glass which is perfect for making jewellery.

Mrs Morgan started this work three years ago when she began making wire wrap jewellery which then developed into her work using sea glass.

After moving into her grandmother’s former home in Radyr last month with her partner, she decided to carry on creating jewellery and has set up a studio.

Searose Jewellery’s range of the products including earrings and rings.

Her products include a wide variety of rings and earrings as well as different necklaces.

Mrs Morgan sells the jewellery she makes through her Etsy page which can be found here and also does commissions.
