Here’s the list of events cancelled by Storm Eunice in Cardiff

All schools have already been closed, some more weekend events will follow

STORM Eunice is currently battering Cardiff with wind gusts of up to 90mph.

Due to health and safety concerns, many events have been cancelled or postponed. Here’s all the information so far.

The Prince of Wales trip to Newport and Swansea has been postponed.

A spokesperson for the prince said: “Following official guidance, the Prince of Wales’s visit to Newport and Swansea on Friday, February 18 will not go ahead due to the dangers posed by Storm Eunice.

“In the interests of public safety, these engagements will be postponed with a view to rescheduling at a future date.”

The punk band IDLES were due to be playing in Cardiff’s Motorpoint Arena but they have postponed their gig due to the red weather warning.

Cardiff Castle have closed their doors for the day. Its website said: “In the interests of health and safety for both our visitors and staff, Cardiff Castle will now be closed for the whole day.”

The Cathedral School has postponed its lunchtime concert which was due to take place in Llandaff Cathedral.

St David’s Hall is closed all day.

The council have closed Bute Park, Roath Park, Parc Cefn Onn, Victoria Park and Thomson Park. They will reopen once Storm Eunice has passed.

Northern Cemetery, Cathays Cemetery and Pantmawr Cemetery have also been closed by the council. This will be reviewed at lunch time.

The council said: “All scheduled funerals at other sites and cremations at Thornhill will go ahead as planned, but attendees should check with the funeral director for any updates.

All community hubs and libraries are closed, so too is Cardiff Riding School and Cardiff International White Water.

All waste collection services have been cancelled today. The council said:Crews will be working through the weekend to catch-up.”

Cardiff Crown Court and Newport Crown Court are both closed.

Rhiwbina Market has been cancelled, but Roath and Riverside will go ahead on Saturday and Sunday with no gazeboes.

Many restuarants, cafes and shops have closed their doors today. For example Anna Loka, the popular vegan restaurant in Cardiff, will be closed tomorrow.

They said:Unfortunately, due to the red weather warming from storm Eunice we will be closed. The Anna Loka team will be snuggled up at home on Friday 18th. We will be back open on Saturday. We hope everyone stays safe.”
