It will be the second time the sides have met in three days
CARDIFF Devils will face Sheffield Steelers in the Challenge Cup tomorrow night, three days after beating them in the league.
The Devils won the game on Sunday night after beating league leaders Sheffield in a dramatic penalty shoot-out.
Devils’ goaltender Mac Carruth was the stand out performer, saving four out of the five penalties.
The goaltender made a staggering 44 saves in the game, keeping out 95% of shots he faced.
The Devils will need Carruth to be at the top of his game again tomorrow against Elite league leaders Sheffield, who have scored 137 league goals this season.
Trevor Cox scored a late equaliser for the Devils taking the game to the shoot-out after a goalless extra period.
The Devils will hope to emulate their winning performance when they return to the Utilita Arena tomorrow night for the first leg match.
They have not won a trophy since the departure of legendary coach Andrew Lord in 2020, and will be desperate to progress to the final by beating The Steelers.
One to watch: Trevor Cox
Cox has scored 17 goals so far this season, including a crucial goal on Sunday night.
The forward also scored the winning goal in the shoot-out.
He could once more be integral to a Cardiff victory.
- Face off is at 7.30pm on Wednesday, March 23.
