One primary school is keeping Tiger Bay’s multicultural legacy alive with its plans for a ‘Windrush garden’
YEAR three pupils at a primary school in the heart of Butetown got creative making plans for a new garden at the local community centre.
Pupils at St Mary The Virgin Church in Wales Primary School (SMTV) started blueprints for the garden honouring Windrush Day, on June 22.
Located in Butetown Community Centre (BCC), it will serve as a relaxation space where different communities can mix.
It is due to be completed within the next few weeks.
The garden is also part of SMTV’s Refugee Week 2023 activities.
This year, Refugee Week coincided with Windrush Day, and SMTV managed to commemorate the two beautifully.
