The Dragons head to Glasgow seeking a second Netball Superleague win of the season
CARDIFF Dragons’ goalkeeper Leah Middleton will miss the Netball Superleague clash with Strathclyde Sirens tonight (7.30pm).
Middleton has been one of the Dragons’ star players in their exciting start to the season, but picked up a minor muscle strain in their previous game against the Surrey Storm.
Cardiff have had an encouraging start, picking up a dramatic 55-54 victory over Leeds Rhinos in Round Three.
They now head up to Glasgow to face the Sirens, who are looking to get off the mark for the season.
Cardiff Dragons’ CEO Vicki Sutton said: “I am confident that we will get the win tonight.
“I am on the fence about the winning margin. I don’t like seeing big score margins as it’s not good for the game.”
Strathclyde have suffered three heavy losses since a close opening round loss to Team Bath.
Sirens Assistant Coach, Rachel Cremin, said: “The group is very resilient, and they are very motivated.”
Dragons will head up to Scotland with confidence that they can get their second win of the season, matching their whole win tally from last year.
One of Dragons’ two victories last year was in the corresponding fixture, claiming a 50-37 victory at the Emirates Arena Sports Hall.
Even without Middleton, who leads the team in intercepts and deflections, the Dragons know a victory can push them up the table.
- The Dragons next home fixture is against Severn Stars on March 23.
