There’s a heavy emergency response close to the Huggard Centre near Hansen Street in Butetown
A MAN has been airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after a suspected assault following an incident in Butetown at 9am.
- South Wales Police confirmed: “Police officers are currently at the scene of an incident which occurred on Hansen Street at approximately 9am today.”
- The incident happened outside the Huggard Centre on Hansen Street.

A police helicopter and the air ambulance were on the scene, as well as three police cars and four police vans.
Police remain on the scene collecting evidence.

Police issued this statement via their social media channels this morning.
“Police officers are currently at the scene of an incident which occurred on Hansen Street at approximately 9am today.
“We can confirm that a man has been airlifted to the University Hospital of Wales with serious injuries.
“An investigation into the incident, which is suspected to be an assault, is now underway.
“A police cordon has been set up and Hansen Street has been closed. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes.
“Anybody who was in the area at the time who may have seen what happened is urged to contact 101. Please give reference *2500032515.”
