CARDIFF’S MICA Moore has been selected to represent Team GB at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea next month.
Moore will team up with regular partner Mica McNeill, with Moore acting as brake woman and McNeill the pilot.
Moore said: “I’m so incredibly proud to be able to represent Great Britain at the highest level. It’s something that as a young athlete I dreamt of and I honestly can’t believe it’s coming true.
“I can’t wait to be part of Team GB in PyeongChang.”
It has not been an easy road for former sprinter Moore. The British Bobsleigh and Skeleton Association (BBSA) withdrew its funding for a women’s bobsleigh team last September, forcing the team to rely on crowdfunding to raise £30,000.
At the time Moore told the BBC she was “devastated it has come to this,” but that she was more determined to make it to the Olympics.
Moore and her partner Mica McNeill walked away unscathed from a spectacular crash in the World Cup in Altenberg earlier this month after their bobsleigh overturned at more than 70mph.
Both were initially groggy after the incident but were later given the all-clear by medical staff at the track.
