The locally-renowned fun-run takes place on Saturday, December 2, in aid of a good cause
THE Reindeer Run returns to Whitchurch in its full glory next weekend with organisers hoping to make it “the best year yet”.
The one-mile race will start at 7.30pm on Saturday, December 2 and participants will receive the iconic Reindeer Run t- shirts.
The wider event runs from 5.30pm-11pm and the people of Whitchurch can expect street performers, festive food and drink options and even a guest appearance from Father Christmas himself.
Organisers of the event have partnered with Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital with the goal of raising £15,000 for the charity.
Noah’s Ark spokesperson Morgan Bolton described the event as “vital for raising funds for the children and families spending Christmas at Noah’s Ark Children’s hospital.”
A full list of all the stalls and businesses involved in the event is on the Reindeer Run Facebook page.
They include Dwtty Crafts, a personalised gift business based in Barry, whose owner is full of praise for Noah’s Ark.
“I really believe in the children’s hospital, they really helped my daughter with her fractured ankle,” said owner Roxine Hagen.
Also involved is the Wild At Art Club, which provides art classes aimed at improving children’s mental health. Andrea Sims, who offers classes all around Cardiff, said she is excited to be helping the community and “wishes she had got involved sooner.”
The run is organised by K&M Sports Events and sponsored by James & Jenkins, and Whitchurch Builders Suppliers. A spokesperson for James & Jenkins said: “It’s great to have the run back on the calendar.”
Light Up A Life 2023
If Christmas makes you more keen than ever to help others in need then the people of Cardiff are invited to attend the annual ‘Light Up A Life’ memorial service, taking place on December 1, 2023, at Howell’s School in Llandaff.
This appeal is run every year by Whitchurch-based City Hospice from the beginning of October to the end of December. It is an opportunity to honour and remember those who have been lost to a terminal illness and the event will include carol singing, readings and performances.
People can add dedications to lost loved ones on the City Hospice website.
There is also the option to ‘Donate A Day’ this December, which allows you to pay for a full day of care for someone with a terminal illness.
