“It’s like having an extra man out on that field,” says Wales lock Adam Beard
THE Principality Stadium roof will now be closed for the Six Nations clash between Wales and Scotland in Cardiff tomorrow.
Both teams need to agree to the roof being opened or closed and previously Wales wanted the roof closed but Scotland wanted the roof to remain open. The default position is that roof is opened when the teams disagree.
Earlier this week Wales coach Warren Gatland complained about the fact Wales are disadvantaged by that as the home team – and now he has his way after Scotland U-turned ontheir decision.
Wales prefer the roof to be closed because it creates a better atmosphere in the stadium and Wales lock Adam Beard, reacting to the news, said: “It’s massive, the buzz, the noise, everything about it is just unbelievable.
“It’s something you can’t really explain, that feeling of passion, pride, everything from the crowd.
“It’s like having an extra man out on that field.”
Yesterday, Gatland said: “Scotland want the roof open which I think is a little bit disappointing from an atmosphere point of view.”
