The team will wear special edition Pride jerseys to mark the occasion, in partnership with Pride Cymru
CARDIFF Devils host the Nottingham Panthers this Saturday night in the Vindico Arena in a celebration for LGBTQ+ History month.
The team will wear special edition Pride jerseys to celebrate the occasion as they have done since 2017 with 200 replica jerseys available for fans to buy in their online shop.
The jerseys of all four captains, Mark Richardson, Sam Duggan, Andrew MacWilliam and Joey Martin are available in an online raffle.
The evening will also include the usual “shirt off his back” raffle with all 20 players’ jerseys up for grabs.
Cardiff were the first team in the Elite League to host a pride night in 2017 to promote inclusivity.
Since 2017 the Devils have partnered with Pride Cymru to celebrate LGBTQ+ history month.
Pride Night came from a project set up in North America called You Can Play which tries to ensure safety and inclusion in sport for LGBT+ players, managers and fans.
On the night, the Devils will be taking on the Nottingham Panthers in a key match-up at the top of the EIHL standings.
Both sides will be heading into the match-up with confidence with Nottingham currently leading the season series with three victories out of a possible five.
Cardiff currently sit in second place in the Elite League just one point ahead of Nottingham in third place, though the Devils have two games in hand.
After suffering defeat at the hands of EIHL leaders, Belfast Giants, last weekend the Devils will hope to return to winning ways against the Panthers.
With the Devils now in the tail end of the season each point matters as they chase the regular season title in preparation for the play-offs.
After taking the IIHF Continental Cup last weekend, by beating Grenoble’s Bruleurs de Loups from France and GKS Katowice from Poland, the Devils already have one piece of silverware under their belt but are hungry for more.
