Our reporters have been out and about covering the city’s key stories
IT’S been a busy week at The Cardiffian, so you’d be forgiven for not having time to read all of our articles.
But don’t worry, we’ve got you covered.
A van delivering to wool to knitters, a big weekend for Welsh sport and a very expensive coat taken by a robber, there’s something for everyone.
Special indie businesses knit people together
We’ve heard the stories behind some of Cardiff’s unique new independent businesses this week.
There’s the new Llandaff North greengrocer who’s taking on the supermarkets, ‘Wool on Wheels’ which hand-delivers knitting supplies from a van and the Barry store that’s supporting families.
A Welsh rugby reboot or the same old story?
We have a big few days for sport in the capital, with both the men’s rugby team and women’s football side looking to pull off upsets.
Matt Sherratt takes charge for the first time as Wales take on Ireland at the Principality Stadium. In football, Rhian Wilkinson’s women take on the Nations League challenges of highly-ranked Italy and Sweden.
Meanwhile, Cardiff City travel to Plymouth on Saturday, then welcome Hull next Tuesday, in games that could define the Bluebirds’ season.
We go the extra mile
We also have some great features on some remarkable Cardiff residents.
Our writer James Bessant-Davies ran the Brecon to Cardiff ultra-marathon, chatting to the eventual winner about the rise of long-distance running along the way.
Reporter Sam Riley also spoke exclusively to MS Julie Morgan, who’s stepping back from public service after 28 years.
Putting the ‘court’ in coat
We’ve spent a fair bit of time in court this week (for all the right reasons) and been across the most interesting cases.
In particular, the one about a £1,000 jacket taken in a robbery outside a takeaway made an impact.
Well, that’s a wrap for another week.
Fingers crossed for a Bluebirds’ win, lets hope Ireland show some mercy, and maybe you should try running 43 miles this weekend…
…or maybe do some knitting.
Cheers,
Duncan Welch (this week’s news editor)
