As “Movember” dawns, 10k run aims to raise cancer awareness among men
On 13 November, Cardiff will play host to hundreds of moustached runners participating in the 10k MoRun Cardiff, an integral fixture on this year’s list of events taking place across the UK to mark Movember.
Movember is an annual 30-day event that has taken place each November since 2003. It encourages men to grow a moustache in a bid to promote conversations concerning the often-ignored issue of male cancers.
The race begins in Cardiff’s Bute Park, and aims to raise money for, and awareness of, prostate and testicular cancer.
The UK Communications Manager of Movember, Richard Boullemier, says, “Movember is about getting blokes talking about their health. It’s about sons encouraging their dads to check themselves, dads encouraging sons to do the same…preferably in private.”
