Art to adorn new cycle route

A Public Art Design Competition has generated the latest surge of bicycle-related creativity in Cardiff, once again proving that the Welsh like their art on wheels.

Cardiff Council launched the competition in collaboration with the Cardiff Design Festival as a part of the development of Enfys, the new cycle network that aims to improve links around the city. The purpose was to inspire artwork to adorn the intended routes.

Local artists will judge the competition, and the winners will feature on BT and Virgin Media cabinets along the network from next spring.

The Cabinet Member for Strategic Planning, Highways, Traffic and Transportation, Ralph Cook, said, “This is a great opportunity for the public to design public art, whilst also promoting cycling within the city.”
