The Welsh vegan WinterFest is a one-day festive event held in the heart of Cardiff City Centre at the City Hall.

With a lineup of festive cookery demos and talks, it’s a fantastic place to get some vegan inspiration and learn how easy it is to be vegan! There’s something for everyone with a kids’ craft corner and free face painting for young and old. Entry is £3 cash on the door with under 16s free.
The event is organised by local vegan campaigner, Claire Morley. Claire has organised vegan outreach events all over the UK for the last 10 years.
“We love Christmas! And our big passion is veganism and helping people go vegan. By going vegan you can reduce your ecological footprint by up to 50% and saves one animal life every day! Going vegan is the single most important thing anyone can do to help combat climate change so it’s a very important message to get across,” says Morley on how the idea of the festival came about.
Street food is exciting, authentic and cooked to order, you know you’re getting fresh food that’s piping hot. Every street food vendor is different, bringing us something unique and new to try. The vegan street food scene is as exciting as they come! It’s filled with jackfruit wraps, Satan burgers, homemade sauces, with game-changing flavours and insane meat-like textures. This WinterFest doesn’t miss The Hogless Roast; plant-based protein infused with smoky BBQ flavours, lathered in apple sauce, topped with stuffing in a toasted rustic roll.
Jane is author of the Viva! Cookbook and 30dayvegan.viva.org.uk, she has also been co-editer of www.veganrecipeclub.org.uk, as well as many other vegan food resources. She will be at the festival with her cooking demo!
With most people spending big on loved ones at Christmas, organisers wanted to offer an alternative ethical market with local and small business producers. Choosing vegan gifts and goodies at Christmas from small businesses helps to save animals, the natural environment and supports small business over big corporations and directly feeds into the local economy in Cardiff.
Organisers also put a big emphasis on helping people go vegan with an informative lineup of talks and festive demos as well as providing a platform for local campaigners to meet with the public and talk about what’s happening locally and how to get involved.
Veganism is a growing movement, year on year, plant-based food sales are rocketing! Winterfest is proud to be a part of that movement and help people make the switch to veganism.
“Many farmers are realising that farming animals is not sustainable for the planet or our health and treating animals as commodities is an attitude of the past. The most forward-thinking of farmers are turning their attention to arable farming, take Jay Wilde for example of Bradley Nook Farm in Derbyshire, in 2017 he took his cattle to a sanctuary and decided to become a vegan farmer! We would support any Welsh farmers looking to make the switch to a compassionate lifestyle,” says Clarie Morley.

You can browse our 60 plus vendors selling vegan cheeses, Yule logs, Christmas cakes, mulled wine, Welsh cakes, brownies, gourmet handmade chocolates, fair trade jewellery, vegan art, cosmetics and perfumes and so much more!
WinterFest is challenging any meat eater to take their taste tests at the free food samples table where you’ll find a variety of vegan cheeses from Bute Island Foods and Mozzarella as well as meat alternatives from Fry’s Family Foods and a range of plant milk and chocolates! Everyone should take in the smells and aromas of freshly cooked vegan street food on Sunday the 8th of December at this vegan event.
