Spring is the perfect time to take a stroll in the garden, enjoying the sights and the sounds of season.

Cardiff has some truly beautiful parks and glorious gardens. Dotted about the city, these green spaces provide wonderful examples of Cardiff’s natural environments and are well worth a visit.Nothing marks the end of winter like a cheery spring flower.

From the first snowdrops and daffodils to primroses and hellebores, spring flowers are used by gardeners as a ‘spring marker’ to count down the days until the weather gets warmer.

Take time out from your busy schedules and get out there to soothe your soul with Cardiff’s spectacular spring.

1. Bute Park – CF10 3ER

Cardiff’s largest park, situated in the heart of the Welsh capital, is home to some fine magnolia trees, one of the most spectacular spring blooms. Go and see the pretty pink blossoms before they disappear. Walk throughout the park and you will see plenty of other attractions. You’ll see tons of gorgeous blossoms and daffodils that lead to the castle.

2. Roath Park – CF23 5PA

The park attracts a wide variety of wildlife. The lake is an important habitat for breeding and overwintering birds, including mallards, cormorants, and herons. In the lake, four uninhabited islands provide safe nesting areas. Also, you can enjoy boating on the lake, feeding the ducks, and maybe even playing in the play park.

(Remember don’t interact with animals in the park recently since there is a suspected bird flu )

3. Alexandra Garden – CF10 3NB

Located in Cathays, Cardiff’s Civic Centre possesses a small oasis of beauty. It is the perfect spot to catch some greenery in early spring and is a favourite place for workers to grab a sandwich for lunch. The park is pink and scenic during the spring. Surrounded by impressive buildings, including City Hall and the National Museum, the park sits in a landscaped oasis with tree-lined avenues.

4. Llandaff Field – CF11 9HZ

On the west bank of the River Taff, Llandaff Fields adjoins Pontcanna Fields on its eastern boundary. There is a nice walk here, a play park, and a cafe that serves amazing pizza, which makes it a very popular place for jogging, dog walkers, and families. Besides being close to downtown, it also has access to Pontcanna, a lively area with lots of shops, cafes, and restaurants.

5. Thompson’s Park – CF5 1GH

The park is situated on a hill and has a large variety of trees and shrubs and is bordered by flowering plants. Woodland and pond areas are habitats for wildlife. There are several plantations with wildflowers around the pond. This attractive park with its iconic water fountain is a popular but peaceful place to pass the time of day.

6. Duffryn Garden – CF5 6SU

A peaceful oasis on the outskirts of Cardiff, Dyffryn Gardens covers more than 55 acres of lush green landscape. There are intimate garden rooms, including Pompeian Garden, Paved Court, Reflecting Pool, and Mediterranean Garden. There is a croquet lawn and seasonal bedding around the enormous great lawn. In addition to the glasshouse, there are statues and trees from around the world collected in the arboretum.

7. Gorsedd Garden – CF10 3NP

Relatively small but beautiful, the Gorsedd Gardens are situated directly in front of the architectural marvel that is the National Museum of Wales. Gorsedd Gardens contains several statues, including many by the Cardiff-born sculptor Sir William Goscombe John. In its early years, this space, just minutes from Cardiff Castle, was referred to as the Druidical Gardens, but the name Gorsedd Gardens was later adopted.
