Enjoying your time as a ‘nerd’ at Techniquest, loads of exhibitions and workshops are waiting for you!
Save the date! Thursday the 28th of January there will be the After Hours at Techniquest between 18.30 to 22.00, a different event open to all the adults who want to learn something new with the beautiful view of Cardiff Bay.
Thursday night will be your chance to be a child again, 3 pounds to enter and then it will be possible to enjoy the evening with many free workshops. From the ‘Bridge builder workshop’ to the ‘Origami’ for who likes handmade project, to the ‘360° Planetarium Stars Tour’ where you can learn more about constellations and planets. However it will be also possible to join the Pub Quiz and the Bar will be fully licensed and available up to 21 years old.
Steph Merriman, Visitor Service Manager, said “We have run numerous After Hours events before and they have always been well received by our visitors. Some of our most popular events have been Superhero Science (with an Artist that works for Marvel comics) and The Quest, which was a spin on the ITV gameshow The Cube. We usually expect around 300 visitors but depending on the evening can pull in around 600. The more the better for us as the atmosphere is brilliant when there are lots of people in the exhibition.”
Techniquest is a famous museum in Cardiff Bay where it’s easy to get interested in science and everything is made really easy. Founded more than 30 years ago, today not only school trips for every age but also families and tourists go there to discover something new. There are many interactive experiences and interesting activities.
“We started doing After Hours a few years ago after noticing a trend in Museums and Science Centres doing ‘Adults Only’ nights, it looked like something the people of Cardiff would enjoy and has grown from there. We’re grateful to Admiral for supporting the nights and look forward to holding lots more” continue Steph Merman. “The next event is tomorrow night, Thursday 28th January, and then events usually run on the last Thursday of the month. Further upcoming events are Thursday 25th February and Thursday 31st March.”
