David Beckham led Great Britain and Irish superstar players into 3-1 victory against Luis Figo’s international team at the UNICEF charity ‘Match for Children’ at Old Trafford, Manchester, on 14 November.

With the cheapest ticket costing only 20 pound, more than 75,000 spectators watched football giants Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs and Sol Campbell returning to the field alongside Dwight Yorke, Ronaldinho, Van der Sar, whom formed the “Rest of the World” team.

The match was rather slow-paced. Under heavy shower, Beckham’s team dominated ball possession. “Although the game was not very attractive, I like it because I could see famous footballers for the first time. The stadium is also as beautiful as in the video games I played when I was a child,” said 26 year-old Hung Nguyen from Cardiff.

One of the night’s highlight was when Brooklyn Beckham substituted for his father at minute 75. The cheers grew louder in less than 10 minutes, when the 40 year old father rejoined the team. “He did well for the 15 minutes. His first cross was great and his corner onto his dad’s head,” said proud Beckham about his son, as quoted by Manchester United.com.
