Super Furry Animal Cian Ciaran and Llwybr Llaethog will headline a gig to support Grangetown’s campaign for a Welsh medium school.
The gig, which is organised by TAG Campaign, which have campaigned to see a Welsh medium school built in Grangetown, will be held at the Lyndon Social Club on Clare Road tonight ( Friday) at 7.30pm.
The evening will also include performances by Kizzy Crawford and Tom ap Dan, a young musician from Felinheli.
Ahead of the event, Campaign co-chair Dyfed Wyn Huws said: “I want to thank these musicians for their support and for giving their time to raise awareness about the TAG Campaign. As a committee we greatly appreciate their efforts.”
Huw ap Tegwyn, committee member and co-organiser of the evening said: “Not only is Friday an important opportunity to spread the word and raise awareness about the aims of the TAG Campaign, it is also a great opportunity to socialize and draw the community together. It reinforces the community spirit that has been an integral part of the campaign from the start.”
The concert is held a day after Cardiff Council published a list of six potential sites to build a Welsh and English medium schools.
In reaction to the plans, Cian Ciaran said: “I welcome the 2FE [proposal] but we’re no further ahead than we were a year ago.
“The gig is a chance to gather together but also to digest and discuss the councils announcements.”
Huw Williams, a member of the TAG campaign, said the event will be more than a musical event. He said: “The gig will be a good chance to inform parents of the situation and to let them know where we are at, that there may well be a long way to go, and we appreciate their ongoing support!”
