Gwent Police are to “link with Walford Police” station in the investigation of the murder of Eastenders character Lucy Beale, after a Newport man falsely claimed to have handed himself in as the culprit.
The nation sat on the edge of their sofas last night in anticipation as the plot unravelled on the soap. The story of Lucy Beale’s death is coming to a gripping climax after a ten month whodunnit.
Adam Cueto, of Newport, took to social media networks Twitter and Facebook to claim he rang local police to identify himself as the offender. He claims he was fined £70. The updates went viral.
But Gwent Police deny Cueto came forward or was fined.
A Gwent Police spokesman said: “As interesting as this plot twist might be there is no truth to the rumour that someone handed themselves into Newport Police Station in relation to the murder of Lucy Beale.
“We will link in with colleagues at Walford Police Station to confirm this and ensure that they aren’t side tracked in their pursuit of the real offender.”
