Joy of Christmas services is saved for churchgoers

Socially-distanced services will be held at Whitchurch and Llandaff churches

CHURCHGOERS in Llandaff North and Whitchurch will still be able to enjoy Christmas services this year despite new Covid restrictions put in place by the Welsh Government.

The Whitchurch Benefice this week published an itinerary of Covid-safe services and family activities taking place through Llandaff All Saints’ Church and St Mary’s Parish Church in Whitchurch over the festive period, kicking off with a “pop-up” nativity.

Father Nicholas of Llandaff All Saints’ said: “We wanted something that families could get involved with, but restrictions mean that nothing can be rehearsed. For the nativity, there’ll be a service, families can come and the children can get involved. There’ll be a projector, so everyone can see what’s happening.”

As physical services will need to abide by strict social distancing measures, space will be very limited, and attendees will need to book their places in advance.

Alongside the services, the Diocese of Llandaff is inviting residents to sing carols on their doorsteps from 6pm every Sunday until Christmas.

Here’s the full schedule:

Saturday and Sunday, December 19 and 20, from 4pm

A pop-up nativity service in Llandaff All Saints’ Church, Gabalfa Road.
