Fans hope for a consolation win after losing the Challenge Cup Final
TONIGHT, Cardiff Devils return home to Ice Arena Wales to host the Glasgow Clan.
After losing the Challenge Cup Final on Wednesday, a home advantage should help the chances of a win against the Clan.
A spokesperson for the Cardiff Devils said: “Lately we’ve been on a great run of form at home, we’ve been winning a lot in our own building.”
The Devils last played the Glasgow Clan two weeks ago at the Ice Arena Wales and won 3-1.
Cardiff remains in third place in the Elite League standings, 23 points ahead of Glasgow, who are in eighth.
With only five home games to go, fans are hopeful for another win on their territory.
“I expect to see a sluggish Devils team following Wednesday night’s Challenge Cup loss,” said Daniel Ingram, 28, from Caerphilly who will be attending the game.
He added: “I expect we’ll come out on top. I predict a 3-1 Devils win tonight.”
It looks like it will be a hell house, as there are less than 60 remaining tickets for the game.
Glasgow supporters are also filling up the arena, with buses full of ‘Purple Army’ fans already on the road.
Thomas Nevitt, 25, from Glasgow, is a Clan supporter and has travelled down to watch the match.
He said: “With tonight’s game between the Devils and the Clan, both teams need a big bounce-back performance.
“Following Cardiff’s challenge cup loss in overtime on Wednesday, it’s imperative for them to get back to winning ways. However, the one thing that may hold them back is if they play tonight with a short bench – playing with four defencemen hurt them in the final period on Wednesday.”
He added: “As for the Clan, discipline is the key focus following their implosion against Dundee last Sunday. Also, coming off the back of a short illness within the squad during the week, will the players be well enough to play a full 60 minutes tonight? Time will tell.
“I think the score will be 3-2 to the Clan.”
