Despite the recent controversy, the Royal Family has faced this year, from the allegations of Prince Andrew’s involvement with Jeffrey Epstein to the divide between wealth and poverty in the UK,  many still feel that they wish to celebrate Her Royal Majesty The Queen’s success of being the longest-serving Monarch.

On Friday evening, Penarth joined more than 1,500 places across the country in the lighting of the beacons to celebrate The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, becoming the first British Monarch to celebrate 70 years of service.

The bank holiday celebrations and activities continue in Cardiff and The Vale of Glamorgan until Sunday evening.
