WORK is set to begin this summer in Hailey Park to widen and re-direct the Taff Trail route which runs through the park after years of consultation between Cardiff Council and opposing groups.
Since the council announced their plans to widen and re-align the path in 2019 in order to improve the experience of cyclists and walkers, community groups such as Friends of Hailey Park and Cardiff Cycle City have been fighting against the proposal.
However, the council have confirmed this week that they have been granted funding in excess of £700,000 to begin work in August of this year on Hailey Park’s Taff Trail.
In a statement, the council said: “As part of our Stronger, Greener, Fairer ambitions, we are committed to improving cycling and walking routes.
“Over time this will give residents and visitors greener and healthier ways of moving around the city.”
