What things can you do with the kids and family this Saturday in Cardiff to celebrate Wales’ national day?
CELEBRATIONS for St David’s Day have already begun in the capital with Cwmbach Male Choir giving a live performance at Cardiff Central station on Friday.
“It’s a fabulous place to sing and it’s so important to keep St David’s Day alive,” said Mike Thomas MBE, director of the choir, which formed 105 years ago in Aberdare.
“We were delighted to be invited down to the station in Cardiff – we’ve a long association around St David’s Day,”
The choir will be next performing in St Elvan’s Church, Aberdare on Saturday.
But if you are looking for something closer to home – with a sunny day forecast – we’ve got you covered.

The parade
Saturday’s main event is the St David’s Day parade, which will start at 12.30pm outside of Cardiff City Hall and will end outside of St David’s Hall where Hen Wlad fy Nhadau will be sung.
The Senedd is hosting a day of Welsh-based fun starting at 10am and finishing at 3pm.
Shops across the capital will also be celebrating the day.
“It’s about celebrating all things Welsh,” said Ian Paul, owner of Secrets of Wales.
St Fagans Museum will be hosting a day of Welsh folk dancing and music including a special display of harps on show at the site.
Sport
Cardiff’s sports teams will also be celebrating the day.
The Cardiff Devils will be playing their sold-out Elite Ice Hockey League game against the Fife Flyers in a special St David’s edition jersey.
“I think it’s great the Devils celebrate being from Wales, being Welsh myself I know how proud people are and it’s great to be able to celebrate that with a special jersey,” said Devils player Ben Davies.
“I look forward to wearing it on Saturday night and hopefully can have a few Welsh cakes after the game!” said the Cardiff-born forward.
“You asked for it and we listened! Here is our exclusive St. David’s Day jersey that the team will be wearing against the Fife Flyers on the 1st of March to celebrate our Welsh heritage,” said the Devils in a recent press release.
