ARMED police were called to deal with an incident at St David’s College in Penylan shortly after 11:20am today in response to social media posts referencing firearms.
Police confirmed that no one was injured as a result of the incident which the college has described as a “safeguarding issue regarding one of our students”.
Detective Chief Inspector Justin Evans, counter terrorism security coordinator and tactical firearms commander, confirmed that no gun was taken to or found at the college.
A 16-year-old boy is assisting police with enquiries.
A spokesperson for the college said: “The college would like to dispel any concerns parents and learners have over an incident. The police were asked to respond to a safeguarding issue regarding one of our students.
“It has now been resolved. At no time was anyone at risk. The college is continuing to function normally.”
The college remains open with lessons continuing as normal.
