Locals pedal for climate change

Stop Climate Chaos Cymru and Sustrans Cymru are coordinating a special event, Pedal For the Planet, for Wales Climate Action Day on 28 November.

150 participants are expected to gather at Callaghan Square for a mass bike ride to the Senedd, where comedian Dan Mitchell, along with local musicians, will rally for the cause.

The event is in line with the Paris Climate Conference (COP21) this December, where world leaders will convene to create a universal agreement that aims to keep global warming below 2º C.

“We’re already seeing more extreme weather in Wales,” says Haf Elgar of SCC Cymru. “It’s causing chaos across the world and threatening people’s survival in poorer countries.”

The organisers hope to create a fun event for participants and their families, while also raising awareness about an imminent issue. “Let’s come together and show world leaders that we want to see action at COP21,” Elgar adds.
