Whether you like nature ecology or art collection, National Museum Cardiff is a great place you should not miss.
National Museum Cardiff, is a prominent cultural institution located in the heart of Cardiff, Wales.
One of the highlights of the museum is its impressive natural history area, which displays a wide variety of specimens, from ancient fossils to animal specimens.
“There are a lot of parents who bring their children here to learn in the most fun way, which is one of the most attractive things about our museum.” said Rhiannon, a guide at the nature history area.
This place usually show a wide variety of plants, animals and natural landscapes, with brightly colored birds, insects and exotic plants that can quickly catch a child’s eye. Children can learn about the lifestyle and living environment of various creatures on the earth, which undoubtedly broadens their horizons.
What amuses me is that a column at the entrance of the insect area, the bottom of which is marked with some words about the categories of insects, corresponding to the patterns of the appearance of these types of insects on the floor. This special design may be easy to spot at children’s level, but adults tend to overlook it.
Sue, a student visitor from Swansea, said: “What surprised me was how well their specimens were preserved. I was shocked by the stuffed snake at the entrance.”
“I think it can represent some of the evolution in Wales and I would recommend it to anyone who comes here.” said Alan, an accountant who came to the UK from Australia to visit after retirement. He is a museum lover and has seen lots of museums around the world.
In addition to the natural science exhibitions, the second floor of this museum is a memorable art gallery. The gallery houses a wide variety of paintings, photographs and ceramics. In particular, paintings by famous artists Oscar -Claude Monet and Vincent Wilhelm van Gogh captivated viewers.
“We have impression gallery, which is the largest impressionist collection outside of France. We got great collection in general, and visitors come to the museum in large numbers during the holidays because of this.” said Ben, who was full of praise for the museum’s impressionist collection.
Before I left the museum, I met two elegant old ladies. They were Stella and Jane, both local residents of Cardiff and volunteers at the museum, so they were very familiar with the exhibitions.
“It’s a great resource for Wales. “Stella told me. “I think it’s important for the museum to maintain the building. Because it’s beautiful and it has lasting value.”
In addition to its permanent collection, National Museum Cardiff hosts a variety of temporary exhibitions, educational and community events throughout the year.
Whether you’re an art lover, a natural science enthusiast, or just curious. The museum has something to offer everyone, making it a treasured institution in Cardiff.
