Vintage lovers, unite! There’s a new shop in town that is just for you.
On Thursday 15th September, Sobeys moved into the Royal Arcade “to be right in the heart of the city centre,” according to Hannah, staff member at Sobeys, doors wide open for vintage fashonistas and enthusiasts to offer their custom. As they are relatively new to the area, you may not have heard of them. However, if you pass The Hayes on a sunny (or rainy, as it is Wales), day, you may see a sign holder pointing you in the right direction to fashion galore. Comfortably nested after the gap after Rossiters, the little boutique welcomes you with a burst of vintage vibes for both men and women. Not only are their rails filled with delights of dresses, shirts, jackets and trousers, they also sell a range of jewellery and scarves. They stock “some new line product[s] that fit within our aesthetic,” too and “the branded sports sweats, Levi’s and reworked cropped patterned shirts have been selling really well”. You can pick up the perfect nail varnish colour for you, too, metallic or otherwise. This is the perfect time and place to find and reinvent your style.
After opening last month, Sobeys Cardiff is now one of 3 Sobeys stores across the UK, with the other two in Bristol and Exeter. They chose Cardiff due to “limited offering on Vintage the city had” This vibrant fashion brand offers many the chance to find new styles and “a different edge with our reworked products”, at affordable prices for what is available. The beauty of this small company is that the staff are very friendly and the shopping and browsing experience is filled with a pleasant ambience. Once you have successfully purchased your finds you walk away with a beautifully designed paper bag, free of charge (there’s no bag charge).
They are open Monday to Saturday 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. Next time you’re in town, find your style at Sobeys!
