A storytelling night like no other, Smut Slam is a dirty storytelling night where you can share your sex stories in a safe space.
Cameryn Moore needed a place to stay in one night. Fortunately, she met a nice lady that let her crash at her luxurious flat. This lady was spending the night out anyway, so why not leave it to a total stranger to take care of the flat. What could go wrong?
After the lady left, Moore couldn’t fight the urge to invite a guy over. “I mean… Come on! Who wouldn’t want to have amazing sex in a place like that?” said Moore.
So, the guy arrived; and they had sex. But she wasn’t as fortunate as she thought, because as they got out of the bed to get some snacks, they saw a huge bloodstain.
Yes. Moore got her period, and it messed up the poor lady’s bedding. She rushed to put it in the washing machine and quickly ran out of the apartment. And lucky for Moore, she never saw the lady, or the guy again. The night was an epic fail!
“Epic Fail” was this week’s theme of the first Smut Slam event at the Wales Millennium Center. It was co-produced by Cameryn Moore and the Big Loop Theatre Company and sponsored by the sex shop Njoy toys.
Cameryn Moore, one of the producers of Smut Slam Cardiff, kicked off the night by sharing one of her sex stories. She doesn’t want people to be ashamed, so she created a safe, fun space for those who don’t feel weird about telling stories about their sex lives.
She is an American woman from Boston who decided to pursue a career in organising smut slams around Europe.
“Originally, I created Smut Slam because I wanted to share my dirty stories for the sake of sharing and having fun,” Moore said, “I’ve been doing that for nine years internationally, and I love my job!”
Moore used to go to storytelling events and would ask the host if it was okay to share these kinds of stories. “He would say sure; speak about whatever you want,” she said, “But then when I’d be telling a story, half of the audience would be judging me with their looks.”
Most of the tellers at this week’s event have already been to Smut Slams before; being sex-positive and queer-positive is one of the reasons why people love to go to these events.
The next Smut Slam event will be on April 17, and people are already excited. Follow the Facebook pages Smut Slam Cardiff for more info.
What happens at Smut Slam?
When you go in, you can sign up for the storyteller sheet if you want to share your epic fail sex story.
You then grab a seat or buy a drink at the bar while waiting for the confession bucket to arrive at your table. The “Bucket Babe,” Alice Downing, gives you a sheet where you can write either a confession or a question about sex anonymously. Moore then reads them before a “teller” gets on the stage. A “teller” is a member of the audience who wants to go on stage and share one of his stories).
After you’ve completed the confession sheet, you wait for the bucket babe to come back; and you submit.
Then, Moore goes on stage and welcomes everyone to the event, sets the fun vibes before clearing out some rules for the audience. This “code of conduct” is made to create a safer, more friendly environment for the tellers and listeners.
The list of rules goes on for a while, “every single rule has a story behind it,” Moore explained, “this whole set developed over time.”
After the rundown of the code of conduct, you scream “Ooooh yeah! I like it!.”
You then just sit back and enjoy the smut!
(Smut Slam is a safe environment; therefore none of the stories of the participants will be shared on this page).
