A remake of cult film The Crow is set to be shot in Cardiff after an announcement by the First Minister Carwyn Jones.
The remake will be the first multi-million pound project to be filmed at the capital’s Pinewood Studios — where Mr Jones made the announcement yesterday. Some funding will come from the Welsh government’s £30m Media Investment Budget.
The original film was based on a series of comic books created by James O’Barr and is highly rated among a core group of fans and has already seen a number of sequels and television spin-offs before this remake.
It starred Brandon Lee, who famously died on The Crow’s set after he was accidentally shot when real bullets were used instead of dummy rounds in one scene.
Jack Hudson is expected to take the lead role this time round, after rumours previously tipped Bradley Cooper and Mark Wahlberg to star.
The English actor is best known for his role as Richard Harrow on crime television series Boardwalk Empire. He will work under Juan Carlos Fresnadillo after the 28 Weeks Later director stepped in to replace Stephen Norrington on the project.
Production is set to start later this year.
