EXTRA funding has been found by Cardiff Council to deal with traffic flow issues on Penylan Road.
The new proposal would see major roadworks on the entrances of Dorchester and Winchester Avenue if approved.
The council found drivers were using these roads to avoid traffic lights on Penylan Road, breaking access only restrictions.
Sam Harrison, 27, who uses Penylan Road to commute to work said: “The whole thing is a complete mess to be honest, Penylan is always gridlocked … it makes what should be a 10-minute commute into a 20 to 25 minute drive on some days.”
An earlier scheme to place bollards on both roads was rejected after public consultation.
The latest proposal is for tabled junctions to be built on the entrances of Dorchester and Winchester Avenue with double yellow lines extended.
The extra funding has been found via Section 106 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990, which allows a local authority to enter an agreement with a developer for such projects.
