Grow the Fringe: creatives launch online hub for fringe artists

New live theatre network seeks to demystify Cardiff’s art scene

CARDIFF creatives working in theatre and live performance have launched the Cardiff Fringe Network, a new online platform which aims to make the industry more accessible.

The Cardiff Fringe Network describes itself as a place for artists to connect, share resources and post opportunities.

“I’ve had a lot of discussions with people who have found it hard to break into the theatre scene,” said Alice Mary Rush, a theatre producer based in Grangetown.

“We just wanted to create an open forum where anyone could sign up, be a part of it and start a conversation with someone.”

Users of the website will be able to post and find jobs and other opportunities, and use forums to talk about specific areas of work, such as directing, producing and stage management.

“At the moment, it’s very much based in theatre and live performance,” said Alice. “But it’s all different people who are involved in that. It’s actors, it’s writers, it’s directors, it’s producers, it’s stage managers, it’s technicians.

“And it’s people who don’t really know what area they want to work in but know they want to work in theatre or live performance. Or people who have got experience in one thing but want to get experience in something else.”
