Meet the dementia service making a difference

Day centre making a positive impact for dementia sufferers and families alike

CARDIFF North Dementia Service has been making a big difference to the lives of people with dementia and their families, six months after opening.

The care provided by a tight-knit, experienced group of staff, give family members and carers of people with dementia the chance to have a break, as they know their loved one is in safe hands.

The Cardiffian went along for an afternoon to meet some of the people attending and speak to the members of staff about why they love what they do.

Having opened in December 2021, the team now welcome up to 10 people each day they are open, usually with four members of staff working. Their opening hours are:

  • Wednesday 9am-3pm
  • Thursday 9am-3pm

Based at Llandaff North Hyb, staff members: Carole Mitchell, Gareth Bishop, Michelle John, Marion Hand and Mike John have decades of experience in the sector. They provide fun, engaging care consisting of dancing, singing, various games, and much more.
