ALL Saints Church in Llandaff North held its annual harvest festival despite being forced to close its doors the week before because of a break-in.
The Rev Marja Flipse was adamant the church would stay open for services, even though it was forced to close for a few days for police to investigate.
“We were not able to advertise the event as much as we would have liked, as we had to close the church.” said Rev Flipse.
“They didn’t take much except for £20 and our hoover!”
However, cupboards holding toys and arts and craft supplies were damaged when the burglars broke in through a back entrance.
Speaking to Wales Online, Rev Flipse said “We had quite a shock on Sunday morning, but we were fortunate that nothing of particular sentimental or religious value to us was taken or damaged.”
The church is already struggling for funds for building repairs so fixing the damage is an extra expense.
“We had to call locksmiths to secure the church.” said Rev Flipse. “We are trying to make sure that the church still remains open for all, but is also safe from criminal damage.”
